The first thing that stands out about this one, apart from the sparks flying toward your face, is the production - Death Metal shouldn't sound this good! A testament to the skills then of their tandem tweakers' Larsson and Studio, but more so to the steadiness of the band who comes across in a flawless, swarming display of shred and sincerity. "ChaosFury" opens the casket and the flies furiously surround you with Slayer-like "Show No Mercy" swiftness magnified by nine, and then all hell lets loose: "Hollow Retribution," "Blessed And Forsaken," and why don't we just go down the list here, "Madness Prevails;" double-dutykicking and a knife wielding intensity that rivals the likes of early Napalm, and Angel-like in their depth of "Morbidity." All the while the impenetrable Swedes inflict nine crushing blows of cranial misery, occasionally rising for air by way of a funerary lick, or low-E lament; last rites read, presumably well after the carnage, Blood Rapture is an evil fantasy fulfilled much to their masochistic satisfaction - a future written in blood.
