Seen Between the Lines appears to be a repress of the older, and might I add, best years of Bay Area thrash masters Testament. It brings back memories of when I first started going to concerts, Testament actually being my first, when they opened up for Judas Priest on the Painkiller tour. The video is pretty low grade, hand held camera style like Cliff 'Em All by Metallica or the early Pantera videos. The old school aspect of it is adequate (because it really is old), but compared to DVD footage of today, there's just a desire to see that crisp image and clear sound.

The plus side is that this captures Testament in their prime, at the height of their career up to and including the Souls of Black album. Much of the footage is taken from this tour, along with backstage banter and some extra footage of Japan. A few videos for "Nobody's Fault," "Practice What You Preach," "Souls of Black," and "The Legacy" are also included for good measure. The asking price will determine the DVD's worth. Compared to today's DVDs with tons of bonus footage, this one is pretty much no frills. On the flip side, it keeps the integrity of the original release. Seems to me like some more could have been added in a day and age where more is indeed more.
    3 out of 5
