    Fronted by Abby Gennet, who I assume is a relatively new MTV Video Jockey (I wouldn't know because the only thing I try to ritually watch on that soulless channel is Headbangers Ball - wait, that's MTV 2), Slunt brings the noise with Get a Load of This, a slimy release of filthy barroom rock 'n roll oozing with booze and sex, much to my delight.

    Yes, I like the dark, morbid or twisted stuff that many of y'all do - bands ranging from Morbid Angel to Varathron to Neurosis - but I'm also old enough to have been a fan of Motley Crue and Ratt, acts who were known as heavy metal but were essentially straddling the fence between metal and dirty hard rock.

    If you're into rock that's not too serious, Slunt will likely put a smile on your face. They aren't breaking new ground, but in spite of my references to those old 80s bands, please don't take Slunt to be a glorified cover or rehash band. Their sound is updated and modern (partly due to the clean production courtesy of Eddie Wohl and Anthrax's Rob Caggiano), yet tastefully reminiscent of the days when rock didn't take itself too seriously.

    I'll qualify my view yet again by saying I do like music touching upon darkness and depression and also bands that are politically inclined. But do I think that every band should be as politically inclined and active as Audioslave? Hell no!!!

    The drawback of this release is that many of the songs do run into each other. The best songs should've been culled for a mini CD.

    Simple riffs, 4/4 time, and sexy, nasty female vocals that shamelessly dirty talk your ears and your rocks off, on occasion, make for an enjoyable listening experience, in my humble opinion, of course.
