I know I'm stepping onto thin ice with this, some of you may say that Slipknot is just another one of the wave of commercial pseudo-metal bands out there, but you gotta trust me on this one, they're certainly not. Even though Slipknot is not truly heavy in their sound, they're really heavy in what their music transmits, no band makes me headbang harder than Slipknot does, and this album is pure genius. Tracks like the wickedly fast "Eyeless", the anthem-like chorus of "Surfacing" and the pure despair and sickness of "Prosthetics" and "Scissors" make this album a great accomplishment.

Slipknot has been criticized for being sellouts, people say they use their masks as a gimmick to sell more records. If a band does well it doesn't necessarily mean it sucks, the more they sell the more people will be aware of the greatness of these nine layers of pure fucking brutality.
