Once in a while you hear a band that just clicks with your senses. Paulson was one of those bands for me. This is not the greatest record I have ever heard; they may not even be my new favorite band. But what they have is a sound born from so many styles of music that I love, and they mix them well.Think Kid A From Radiohead, melting with Minus the Bear and then dancing with At the Drive In. It's like a chaotic dance party, and an auditory spectacle. You're not sure whether to stand and look dumbfounded or get jiggy with the nearest ass.
Sure, there are things that this band could improve on, for instance, they don't have the greatest singer in the world. But they are all little quirks that every band works out with time. It may not be metal, but if you are a fan of hearing creative music this is worth checking out.
