"Everything was right on at Little Mo's..."

    Holy shit!!!

Last night's show in Piqua, Ohio was a show to beat all shows. I can say I saw Napalm, SG, Isis, and Diecast in a fucking storage closet!! :) (This is a compliment. Little Mo's definitely has a name that fits. It is totally in your face underground intimacy at its small club best.)

Diecast was far more intense last night than in Cleveland. For one, their sound was way better in the small venue. The guitar sound was seriously thrashing. They played a bit shorter set, so it was wham, bam, thank you, ma'am. It was well worth it seeing them in this club. I would imagine that being a newer band that this was definitely their element. (Again, as I stated in the Cleveland thread, the drummer is fucking tight and has some severe swing. I like his style.)

Isis... what can I say? I was fucking floored in Cleveland and I was floored at this show. These guys are something else. Their music is very hard to classify, except to say it is fucking HEAVY. I got to talk with the guys earlier in the evening and discuss the Cleveland show and what kind of influences they have. The guys are very down to earth and are obviously very serious about their music. The two shows by these guys I saw this week are among the best performances I've seen in my concert-going experiences. The albums are great, but to really understand what these guys are about is to see them live. Unbelievable.

I told them prior to the show and after the show that it was mandatory that they do a live album. The amount of vibe they are pushing live is great and I would recommend that if anyone here gets the chance, go see these guys live. (I stated in the Cleveland thread that that was the first I had ever heard them, and in the course of two shows in three days, I'm a convert. If they keep doing what they are doing, they will end up in my top ten favorite bands.) \m/

Soilent Green... Well, again these guys were firing on all cylinders (as I stated about Cleveland), but they had the nitrous injection going on this time. They were tight as fuck and seemed to be laying down the law for groove/grind type shit. The croud seemed to love them and the band was definitely feeding off the vibe and was reciprocating in full force. These guys are phenomenal musicians. And such was the glory of some dirty Louisiana swamp grind in the Little Mo's storage room. \m/

Napalm Death. I could leave it at that since "Napalm Death" pretty much says it all, but I won't. I don't know if it's possible for me to love these guys any more than I already do. If so, than this gig was the be all, end all of my long running Napalm experience. (Are you experienced?)

    Let's see...
    1. The best Napalm show I've seen, yet. Only if they gigged in my garage, could it possibly be topped. To get the true blistering skin peeling rain of Napalm, one MUST see them live. To see them live in such a small venue is the ultimate.
    2. Tight. They were as tight as virgin pussy. (Sorry, that's the most applicable description.)
    3. Barney is a fucking madman. How in the fuck has he managed to keep up his level of intensity over all these years? A true artist and renaissance man. Whether or not you agree with his opinions is irrelevent. The music comes first and when it comes to putting 110% into a show, he is the man.
    4. Jesse and Mitch... it's shame that this genre of music is usually devoid of leads. I know they are more than up to it. They don't miss a note. They have reached the level of guitarist and guitar becoming one. Completely second nature. A massive thumbs up to these two for the large body of work by these guys, in Napalm and all the various other work they have done. \m/
    5. Shane... Don't you wish you could play the bass the way he does? He is a master. He plays that thing in such a fluid manner. And you gotta love that hair! :)
    6. Danny was laying the foundation for all this, as usual. Maybe one day, I'll be able to play this good. He really provided the total annihilation required for the older material, such as "Scum," "The Kill," etc... I like short songs!! All of these drummers have to be given immense credit for keeping up with the insanity that this material demands.
    7. Napalm Death. One of the truest bands to ever grace the scene. I have to send out the sincerest thanks for all the great music they have provided me with, the great shows they have put on for me, and all the positive things they have given to this scene: Integrity, an unwavering musical vision that hasn't been affected by anything other than the music they love and want to create, and last but not least: the fact that they are a great bunch of guys. They always make the utmost effort to appreciate the fans as much as we appreciate them.

    To sum it all up...
This was a great show and a great place to see a show. I think, in retrospect, that the sound had a lot to do with it. The P.A. was more used just to fill out the sound. Bringing up the guitars and bass to an acceptable level, emphasizing the bass drums/etc..., and the vocals. In bigger venues, the P.A. is the sound, where here you still got a good portion of the source sounds. The place has personality and is one righteous place to see a show. Fucking double horns goes out to Little Mo's. \m/ \m/

I'd also like to add in a great word for http://www.westernnoise.com , Mitch C., and Extreme Tattoo for making this event a reality. Thanks for a wonderful show guys. Extreme Tattoo gets an extra set of horns \m/ for squeezing in my buddy for artwork before the show. Harry Howard is the man. He did a great job on my buddy's tattoo, made it over to see Napalm after ET closed, and was a great guy. If you are in the Piqua area, let Harry do some tattoo work for you. New Breed Mitch brought the following specifics to my attention... It woulda never happened with out the back breaking work done by "April and Club Little Mo's staff," "Paul the awesome soundman" and "the NEWBREED group/Westernnoise Record Playas:"
    NEILSON HIXSON
    ERIC BAUMAN
    ADAM BAUMAN (AKA:The REEFER HUT)
    BRIAN HARRIS
    JASON JACOBY

    Fucking A+
    5 out of 5
