Over a decade and still around, Malevolent Creation has been in the background of the world's death metal scene, and is often forgotten in the evolution the genre has made in the new millennium. Conquering South America is the first live album in the band's respectable (if not extravagant) career. If you can get through all of the band's bellowing of "Yeah Mother Fucker!" and "I want to see a fuckin' pit," what you have is a very nice-sounding live album with some crisp drumming and nasty (but in a good way) guitar tone. Other than that, you just have a standard Florida death band compiling their best songs into a live performance, over-exaggerated by clichKd metal yells and unnecessary foul-language. It's a painful reminder to me of how tacky the scene has become. It's a good listen if your metal is too timid to venture away from the East Coast. One word review: Fair
