I've never heard of Kaamos before, but from what I read about their previous material it wasn't much to listen to. I was honestly expecting to hear either a really bad compilation of music or another "average" death metal band. As I kept listening I was being drawn in by the sound of death and destruction. The sound of Kaamos. As I listened further I realized that Kaamos brings back the sound of old school death metal. The riffs that they play are pretty standard, but the addition of crazy Satriani-like solos adds a different dimension to this non-melodic sounding band.
Another great aspect of Kaamos is their drummer. His sound is original, but who knows-- maybe he was a huge Absu fan. I can definitely hear a resemblance. He brings intensity, speed and depth to each song proving he is definitely in the band for more than his ability to play blast beats.
The vocalist is another vital aspect to this Swedish talent. His voice is so morbid that it makes Judas Priest sound like Brittany Spears. This is truly the epitomy of anything you expect to see on TRL.
In my book Kaamos is surely worthy of being classified as good death metal. I recommend checking out the site to hear some of their songs on this album. It really surprised me, and it just may surprise you too.
