Rarely has there been a band I have never heard in their 20+ years of existence. Well there must be a reason that Infernal Majesty has slipped through the cracks of my 20+ year metal career, and that's probably because these guys are just too generic. They are classified as a thrash band, and I think that's the problem. The only thrash that I'm really into is the mighty Testament and Exodus. Now those bands know how to do more than just thrash, they can write catchy, yet crushing songs, but all these guys know how to do is be boring. It's very hard to determine one song from the next, and every time a riff actually intrigues my attention and I catch myself bobbing my head for just a moment, I realize that it sounds like every other damn song on this disc. Who Points to Death has some really cool drum fills, but that dirty monotonous thrash beat that is in every song is just too much to bear. The vocals are nothing to brag about, and I think every growl uttered sounds exactly the same. There is just no vocal range. As I sit here listening to the solos, it's cool but it's just not cool enough, know what I mean? It's very hard to describe, because this is not a terrible band, they just stick to their guns a little too much. But hey, I love Bolt Thrower and Cannibal Corpse, so it's not like sticking to your guns is a bad thing! However in this case it is and I'm afraid Infernal Majesty will never be finding its way onto my stereo again. I mean, what is the deal with "Honey Tongue of Satan" and "Virgin Blood Tastes Purest at Night?" My 10-year old nephew comes up with more brutal song titles than that.
