Hateplow has always been a band that has been on and off the radar of death metal, lingering alongside obscurity throughout the genre's history, despite being a supergroup consisting of members from Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse and Kult ov Azazel. While I was never wowed by the act, I did quite enjoy The Only Law is Survival, and have always respected the band for putting out extreme, wholesome death.Mosh Pit Murder consists of a live recording from the 2000 tour supporting the aforementioned album, as well as a 1996 demo with the original line-up. The live recording is packed with energy and aggression and showcases the talents of the band in their most well-known of times. The demo, however, is what truly sells the compilation. With its raw, unbridled brutality, maniacal blasting and razor-blade riffing, it easily stands out as my favorite thing the band has done yet.
Overall, this is a solid compilation from a respectable supergroup that is worthy to be in the collection of any death metal enthusiast.
R.I.P. "Crazy" Larry Hawke, the band's original drummer who died in 1997.
