Well, I thought this was going to be some sort of Bathory-inspired black metal as the title made me think of Twilight of the Gods, but not even close. This is what we could call deathgrind. If you like death metal and grindcore, you're getting the best of both worlds here. This is very technical and very precise, and my biggest compliment is that this is easily the most metal thing I've ever heard from a band comprised of members that don't even look at all metal. (Baseball caps, short hair and khaki shorts?) But hey, they're from Indiana, so I won't hold it against them. I never would have thought that something this brutal would come from Indiana, but lo and behold, I'm listening to it as I write. The drummer on this record is sick and definitely what holds this band together. This shit is tight and well played. The drums are very busy, which is very grindcore and also very interesting. The music is brutal, yet it's not bland. It's more than catchy enough to keep Twilight of the Idols interesting from beginning to end. Occasionally, there's even a shredding solo thrown in for fun.
The album has ten songs on it, one of which is an instrumental, so while the music essentially has a grindcore nature to it, the songs are longer, giving it a death metal aura. Fans of Brutal Truth, Assuck, or Nasum might want to pick up this bad boy for a listen.
