Ever hear of a band called Gorod? Me neither, until this little gem from Willowtip came my way. These Frenchmen apparently once went by the name Gorgasm, and in fact this very album was initially released in 2004 under that moniker, so I’m guessing the name change was necessitated by the fact that there is a Chicago band going by that name as well. In any event, this is a band the world should sit up and pay attention to. They perform a lovely style of technical death that really shakes your bowels and makes your head spin all at the same time. The production is so crystal clear, that during the guitar solos, you momentarily forget exactly how heavy the band is, until the vocals kick back in... It has been quite some time since a record came along with the ability to stop me dead in my tracks and make me say "holy shit" like Neurotripsicks has. And it happens every time I put it into my player. Gorod rule.
