You don't hear about too many bands coming from Hungary. Maybe that's because the scene is weak over there, and judging by Ekmotorf's latest album, this must be the case. It's not like these guys are awful, but they just don't have anything new to bring to the table. On the first listen, I couldn't help but say, "This sounds like Pro-Pain," or, "Didn't Hatebreed write this riff 10 times already?" Not to mention the fact that every fucking song has the classic "open e" breakdown that I loathe so much. In their bio it says that they throw in a touch of Gypsy Folklore. Somehow, these are the best parts of the album, only because it's a little different than the same old chug-a-lug riffs that plague Destroy. It sounds weird hearing hardcore riffs followed by an old gypsy trying to duplicate the annoying tones on Metallica's "The Memory Remains." However, I give them props just for trying something different. What's that you say? What about the vocals? Well I think I could do without them. This is really the album's weakest point. I'm not a fan of the Hungarian accented vocalist screaming hardcore lyrics in English, especially when all the music stops and it's just the singer screaming about how "They cannot take my rights!! They cannot repress me!!" I could almost call them the Hatebreed of Hungary. But hey, if that's what you like to listen to, then definitely check these guys out. To the hardcores: this one's for you!! To the metalheads: stay away!!
    2 out of 5
