When I first put this on, I did not have high expectations for it. I thought the CD cover and the band name were a bit cheesy. Nonetheless, this disc was pretty kick ass.

Immediately, track one - "LSD" (which you can download from Dirty Power's site) - reminded me of recent Anthrax with maybe a twist of Zakk Wylde and Deep Purple. It's not really heavy, though. A very accurate description would be 90s hard rock with John Bush (Anthrax) on vocals. While it's not really my cup of tea, this band and their interpretation of hard rock will please a lot of you.

I am primarily a fan of death metal, but I found myself tapping my foot to this more than once - especially during "LSD," "Lady Danzig," and "Hey Superman". These songs sound like the anthem of a traveling scene of an action movie or maybe the background theme to a biker pig roast somewhere. It's just good old American rock and roll.

One thing that really struck me about Dirty Power was the production. Jack Endino, the man responsible for Nirvana's Bleach, manned the soundboard. This translates into a very professional sounding release.

I think that this band will have commercial success eventually. They have talent, catchy songs, good hooks, and a very accessible sound. I almost do not feel right reviewing this album on Metal Judgment, as it is not really metal. Still, anyone that likes music that sounds as if Steel Dragon wrote it should pick Dirty Power up. Not my style of music, but still pretty damned good.

    Two word review: quality rock.
