Well it's a treat to hear this old EP from Dillinger Escape Plan. They had a great sound even back then. To be honest, I've only heard them live and the only other recording of theirs I have to compare this to is the track "The Running Board" off the Contaminated compilation from Relapse. The sound of the EP is not quite as bombastic as "The Running Board" but their sound and vision was well-formed even back then. In fact in some places this sounds better than "The Running Board." Maybe it's because it's more raw. In any event, the DEP EP is really good. In a live setting, DEP can be so over the top that I can't really focus on anything or really hear what they're doing. On this CD, all the parts are really well recorded and you can focus on the vocals or the guitars or the drums. These guys are great musicians and it's really great to hear all their chops.

I'm really psyched to have this CD. I'm really enjoying it.
