This Chilean death metal act was founded in 2001 by musicians fostering similar dark musical influences. The band's first chosen name represented an extreme vision: Splattered Excrements, now how's that for visual imagery? Shortly thereafter they progressed through hard work and effort and produced their first demo The Beginning of Human Cruelty in March of 2003. At this time the band decided to change its name (wonder why) to Defacing. The following year the band traveled their native lands with Undercroft, Pandemia, and the unholy ones Dark Funeral. The following year, building on its core fan base they entered the studios and recorded Spitting Savagery, a brutal and crushing true death metal record that would make Mortician proud.Chile has always been home to death squad dictators ala Pinochet, however it's time to bring death metal to the forefront of freedom. Here we're quickly exposed to death metal hammer to face with Defacing's uniquely defined heavy sound, which is, interestingly enough, quite listenable. The band presents massive walls of guitars mixed with brutal rhythm and vocal tracks. The band delivers dark metal structures through immensely heavy guitars yielding grinding passages, for example check out the title track "Spitting Savagery" or the heavier than hell epilogue "Phobophile," which by the way is a Cryptopsy cover - all right now.
This band has truly risen to take the reins from its predecessors with astonishing speed and a harshness which is chilling and masterfully produced. The band's ability to blend blackened brutality with exceptional instrumentation leads credence to their South American continent. The band continues to improve with an evolving line.
