38:39. Thirty eight minutes and thirty nine seconds. Now, when you think about that, that's quite a chunk of time in the expectancy of a human life span. That's currently how much shorter my lifespan is thanks to this psychic vampire of a CD I got called Purified In Pain by Damaged. From the land that gave us AC/DC, Jacko, Paul Hogan and steakhouses, these Aussholes have sadly reached American shores and my ears, the bastards!I could find no love for this "Hate Core" style of music, as they proudly proclaim on the piece of artwork under the jewelcase tray. The packaged artwork looks like more of a keeper than the third rate mess of guitars and drums and Tasmanian Devil style vocals (How to suck Australian: Damaged.) The artwork should've been saved for the truly brutal Nile and not wasted on these schmucks. I can always forgive a band that doesn't use a lot of melody as long as there's tightness and technicality to make up for it. This band has neither, and that boils my fucking blood.
I haven't felt this completely pooched out of money since I bought Defleshed's Fast Forward album a few months ago. However I can say that Defleshed and Damaged are the only two shitty releases I had to deal with out of this year's very fertile crop of great metal releases.
I'll be hauling this one down to Newbury Comics to trade for cash towards a good metal album. If you want it, go and get it. It'll be near the dust covered Gerardo, Great White and Slave Raider CD's. If you don't, then you've wisely taken my advice and want to keep that spare thirty eight minutes and thirty nine seconds of your life. You might need it later on...
