Most of you may be familiar with these names from the Relapse roster. Apparently they were kind enough to let Robotic Empire release this tiny (and oh so cute) mini CD. Mini it is indeed. Not only in size but in listening time as well. This is a 3" CD that in this case holds 7 minutes of music. Christ, you can't even run to the fridge for a beer or you'll miss the whole shebang. Despite the short playing time, these bands make up for it in songs. 10 songs jam packed on to this puppy in a short but sweet fashion of rip snortin' fast grindcore, perfect for those days when you are in the mood for driving fast and reckless.

Although I don't listen to this style much anymore, I have a whole bunch of 7"s from back in the day of similar acts such as Infest, Drop Dead, Disrupt and god knows what else, so this was a bit nostalgic in a sense. Benumb pound away in a vibe similar to those acts surprisingly and all I can say is it's all been done before. Blast beats and yelling tend to get rather tedious after a while and just don't hold my attention like they did when I was 16. Pig Destroyer ride along the same bandwagon and grind away like a bunch of punk kids on an eightball of coke. In the end, it's just grind. I don't know what else to tell you except for the fact that there's nothing incredibly ingenuitive you can do with this music. But there are plenty out there that just love the speed and intensity, including myself on the right day.

The best thing about this disc unfortunately is that it's so damn cute. Just a little itty bitty CD. You almost want to pet it. Fortunately enough I have an adapter slot in my CD player, otherwise petting and admiring its charm is all I'd be doing. I guess the going rate is $6 postage paid so if that is worth your while for 7 minutes/10 songs of music, go for it. Such a hassle for such a short time. I'm sure collectors of these bands will find this worth it, but a first time listener may want to start with the Relapse releases for better production and more bang for your buck.
