  • Musashi's Review:
I think Wastoid spends more time and effort publicizing their goat head with the glowing eyes than they do publicizing their music, which is appropriate considering Wastoid is a time capsule of 80's metal. They have managed to capture the look and feel of bands like Judas Priest and Dio. These guys are cheesy as all hell... but in a good way. They are no more cheesy than Motley Crüe or Def Leppard. Although they are twenty years too late, Wastoid plays good classic metal.

I used to hate bands like Krokus and Great White, but for some reason, I cannot stop thinking of them while I listen to "Countdown to Rock." Although, I prefer the songs that immediately precede it, "Long Live Rock and Roll" and "Let It Rock." It is starting to resemble an Andrew WK album with all the song titles sounding the same.

I doubt Wastoid will appeal to anyone without a mullet and a bepatched denim vest. Nonetheless, I have to applaud their efforts. They are keeping the flame alive. If you can't bring yourself to cut that Kentucky waterfall or to throw out that denim vest with the Judas Priest patches, then you are going to want to beat your wife until she buys you copy of Say Your Prayers. If, like the rest of us, you have moved on in the past two decades, then you'll want to acknowledge Wastoid's devotion to all things classic and then get back to work and stop cruising the Internet and drinking your Starbucks coffee.
