Behemoth's Review:
Ulcerate provide pure technical New Zealand brutal death metal and most notably have done quite well with their second demo effort. The self-production is markedly superior to most - obviously done in a quality studio.

Even though the songs lack distinction to a degree, there's a heavy pattern of guitar lines and chords to follow. The drums are clear, the guitars are of vicious persuasion, the bass mercilessly maintains the bottom line, and the vocals are generally over the top. There are both fast and slower doom/death parts, which vary in intensity. For a good riff trip listen to the title track and then the heavy load delivered by "Unhallowed Ascension." There's plenty of organized chaos and unpredictability within these songs - a good listen for most extreme metal fans.

The band is obviously talented, demonstrated by their unique flow and song structures, which are interesting enough to maintain most listeners' intrigue. Overall, Ulcerate delivers a decent offering of modern extreme music. The band should continue to work on developing their core sound and songwriting abilities.
