Ember's Review:
Transient has already taken you for a ride with their self-titled 2003 demo, and now they're back again, but this time they're going to get you in the mood. What for? That depends on the listener, but I can assure you it is going to be intense. This time around Transient is kicking it up a notch. This demo is only three tracks long, but it totals to about 25 minutes of tripped out, spacey rock that will undoubtedly leave their melodies ringing in your ear.Their lineup is the same, and their style is basically the same too. With influences such as Pink Floyd, Spirtualized, The Smiths, Kraftwerk, and Spacemen 3 you can get a basic idea of what Transient is all about, but to fully understand them you really just have to check out their music. With all three of them having a history in metal and hardcore they create a sound that is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. I would have to say they are best described as Space Rock, but they are also pretty psychedelic, and a bit ambient, too. They use tons of delay and other trippy effects, but they do not over do it like most bands today usually do, and their style is pretty simplistic, proving that less really is more.
Transient has not yet signed with any major labels, but this demo might just change that. Recorded and produced by Blistered Earth's Peter Rutcho in their practice space in the "Dirty Burg" (a.k.a.: Fitchburg, MA), Transient decided to stay close to home. In turn they got what I believe is their best recording to date. You can listen to some of their songs on their website, and the band has a music page on Myspace.com as well. You can also purchase this demo and their last demo on transientband.com for only five dollars. So get in the mood and check it out. Unless you hate this style of music altogether, you won't be disappointed.
