  • Musashi's Review:
Have you noticed that nu metal has stopped sounding new? I guess we should start calling it "mall metal" (or simply "crap" as some friends have suggested). Reminds me of the joke: what do you call a hundred mall metal bands at the bottom of the ocean? A good start. Seriously, I admit I take some guilty pleasure in listening to mall metal. Despite being a sugar-coated metal for the masses, mall metal can be very enjoyable. I will not fully renounce mall metal.

Then there is Superjak. They have all the trappings of a mall metal band. I don't know who they sound like or, rather, I don't know who they DON'T sound like. Superjak do it to you in your earhole just like Sevendust or Drill 187 or everybody else with a bad attitude and an electric guitar.

Apparently, this band is managed by Billy Milano of SOD. That would explain why these guys already sound like a signed band. Superjak have a totally polished sound. They have good songs to boot. Although, I do not hear anything that separates Superjak from the bands that are already signed, I hear a lot of good stuff that separates Superjak from all the other bad unsigned bands out there. I wish them luck.
