Well this doesn't really strike me as metal but it did make for an enjoyable listen. It's reminiscent of Sabbath-type stoner rock with a lot of misogynistic angst. In or about 1996 "Dan gets very unceremonisously dumped by his live-in girlfriend of four years. He vows revenge against all of humanity," reads their bio sheet."Fuck me over and don't try to mask it. You shovel that shit down on my casket" sings Dan in "Lick My Wounds," the first song on the CD. That sets the mood for the CD. I always say, "it takes a bad woman to make a man write a good song." Dan has found lots of inspiration from this particular bad woman.
I like the thick grooves and moody dirges, but the production is kind of weak. It sounds like a record made in 1972 as opposed to a CD made in 1998. The CD could also stand an up tempo song. They do a good job of covering Chris Isaac's "Wicked Game." When he sings "I don't want to fall in love," I really believe it. I hope that Slow Horse is still out there and I would be interested in hearing some more stuff by them. Although they are not really metal, they seem to be a good band so keep an ear out for them.
