    I finally found part of a press release that I agree with! Here it is:

    Common influences like Slayer, Machine Head, Sepultura, and Anthrax, along with a vast variety of heavier roots that range from Cro-Mags, Cannibal Corpse, Hatebreed and Pro-Pain help give Sewn Shut an uncommon style that blends melody with progressive poundings of thrash and death.

    Listen for yourself. The band offers the demo freely.

    To me, this sounds like thrash/death/metalcore, and I really like it a lot. The drums are mixed too high, and the guitars too low (especially the bass), but it still kicks some major ass.

    The band can write some catchy riffs, and the drummer can pound away with the best of them. However, Sewn Shut gets demerits for the lyrics, such as, "SO SICK OF LIFE!" Yeah yeah. We've heard it a million times. At least wrap it up in pretentious language like most death metal bands do.

    Anyway, since this is a short ass demo, my review will be short in kind. Go check this band out. You'll be seeing them open for some big acts very soon. I'm sure of it.
