Musashi's Review:
What the hell is a Serpent Eclipse? Is that when a guy gets so fat he can't see his own penis anymore? Perhaps. Or, it might be a Norwegian black metal band infused with techno/electronica grooves from New Hampshire. If you like fast drum beats played on a crappy drum machine, then Serpent Eclipse is a band you should check out. If you like cheesy keyboard sounds and incomprehensible vocals, then SE is the perfect thing for you. Personally, my favorite part of this is CD is the way the guitar track keeps getting muted in the left channel. That sounds really coolŠ what a brilliant idea. Maybe they could have found a way to have real drums come out of one speaker and a drum machine come out of the other speaker. Oh waitŠ they did do that.
All sarcasm aside, and despite the fact that SE has done so much to annoy me, they have still managed to put together a good demo. The music is actually interesting and fun to listen to once I get past the annoying production. I am not ready or willing to declare myself a fan of New Hampshirean black metal, but I am willing to concede three skulls to this band for doing a good job at writing good music and having the balls to take a few steps outside the box. For me, getting past all the lame stuff and listening to the underlying music was kind of difficult, but worthwhile and entertaining in the long run. For those of you looking for a new twist on an old sound, try Serpent Eclipse. For those of you who can't find your cocks, eat some frikkin' vegetables!
