Blind's Review:
Okay... call me biased, but I'm a seasoned metal head. I've been listening to metal for probably fifteen years, and I can almost smell a bad band. Let's count the strikes this one has against them before I even get into the music:
- The name: Scum Scunge? What's a scunge? I went to go look up the word "scunge," and it doesn't exist. Sorry guys. It sounds dumb and it is.
- The CD cover: it's neon green with a foolish album cover and a logo that reminds me of Nickelodeon Gak. Stupid name + ridiculous cover = me passing this over at the store.
Just my two cents.
On to the next problem: the production. This sounds like a bootlegged live show, but it's inside (or the crowd was laughably silent). It's really bad, folks.
Oooh boy... here comes the music. I think if Grip Inc. decided to do nu-metal, it would sound like this. It seriously sounds like a cross between Staind and Grip Inc., but with far less talent on both ends.
I listened to this once all the way through, and I didn't hear a single song - or part of a song - that I'd want to hear again. Nothing struck me as extraordinary or even interesting. Lots of whiney, teen-angst lyrics, though.
Two skulls for trying.
