  • Metal Militia's Review:
YES! Death Metal! A well executed, well produced, entertaining death metal demo! Holy shit! How exciting! Italy’s Resurrecturis have accomplished a feat not seen in the annals of Metal Judgment’s entire history! (Well maybe not, but it sure has been a long time in my opinion.) Here we have a band with great, catchy death metal with plenty of mosh to spare. If we ignore the really lame pseudo ballad “Sleeping Reason” then we have a complete album from start to finish.

Compare this to the average death metal demo:

Songs? Well written, no filler (save aforementioned gay ballad). Album flows all the way through and doesn’t go any longer then it should.

Album presentation? Very cool slipcase packaging, weird but interesting artwork, liner notes and promo information, no cliché hype or other such bullshit.

Production? Well-done death metal sound, not muddy or murky, but not too crisp or clear either. I like my death metal to be understandable, but I also need it to be gritty and dirty at the same time. These Italians have done a great job here. As you can tell, I’m a fan, and would love to hear more “demos” like this...

But, alas, it is but a false hope. After doing a little bit of research I soon discovered that Resurrecturis have been around for more then a decade, have had releases on Wild Rags, Diamond Road, and this release was even re-released on Mondongo Canibale records in July of 2004. So it isn’t really fair to compare this release with other true demos even though it is being reviewed as a “demo.” That being said, since this is now officially released and easier to find then most demos, I highly encourage all interested to head over to the Resurrecturis home page and check them out. They have their full-length album available to download for FREE. So if chugging, breakdown filled, catchy, fast paced death metal is your thing then do yourself a favor and look into Resurrecturis.
