Musashi's Review:
According to their bio, "Raven Mad strives to bring back the clssic metal sound and high energy of early heavy metal bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Motorhead, Slayer, etc. into the new millenium." I can definitely hear the elements of good eighties metal in their music. The hardest part for me is getting past the vocals and insipid lyrics. Their song "Leadfoot" makes Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55" sound like Shakespeare.Thankfully, they don't take their lyrics too seriously. They seem to have a good sense of humor. Meanwhile I force myself to listen past the vocals and lyrics and pay closer attention during the instrumental sections. I am surprisingly happy to hear the makings of a good band.
Raven Mad seem to walk the line between some sort of Spinal Tap mockumentary and a good tribute band. They aren't the fastest or heaviest band, but you can bang your head thoroughly and consistently to them. Raven Mad is a fun metal party band but might be condemned to life as an opening act unless they get some better material.
