  • Behemoth's Review:
Now for a lesson in Pyuria for those who'd like to know: It's the over-abundant production of urine which causes urinary tract infections - nice! Really though, we are talking about a Finnish band which formed in 1996 and in 2000 they released the debut EP Baroquean Menuets For Oesophagus, now it's time for Sublime Metrics Reallocations. The band describes its own music as an integration of influences from several decades (even centuries) and styles creating different views to play metal. They play violent death metal with multiple influences within brutal old school tradition. The metal is nothing new but the various styles are mixed with style and substance. The album is both technical and complex featuring competent production.

There are plenty of clever and tight arrangements which feature melodic and dark metal. This is a strong and original release with good guitar work, the balanced compositions bring in the ultra dynamics. Pyuria offers many new dimensions to extreme metal music. They have successfully mixed and combined multiple elements of extreme metal. The vocals are strong and powerful and feature guttural screams and cool growling. The drumming passages are played with powerful beatings and plenty of blast beats. Disc highlight for the discriminating listener, "Murder Metaframe" or perhaps eerie "In Rotten Remains Forgotten Names Lie." The lyrics are about massacres, grief, and exploitation. This album is for extreme metal people who are into brutality.

Overall, this release travels the path of extreme music demonstrated through competent musicianship. Pyuria has recently signed to Rising Realm Records; the full-length album is tentatively titled Calliphora Vomitoria Introitus.
