Blind's Review:
Wow.Okay, so I put the one word review at the beginning. Who cares? This four-song "teaser" disc was incredible. It is unbelievable to me that this band is unsigned, or that this demo was not recorded in a professional studio. Polterchrist is that good.
Enough brown-nosing. This death metal trio, who have been around since the early nineties, play some blistering music. The style is a cross between death metal and modern day metalcore. Nonetheless, the demo's press release reports that no one has been able to nail down a sound comparison to Polterchrist. I strongly disagree with these unimaginative reviewers. Instantly, The Red Chord came to mind (mostly with time changes and such), and Origin soon after--especially because of the vocals. Upon hearing track 2, "Lies, Pain, Hate," I would also compare their bass riffs to those of Mudvayne. But don't fret hardcore metalheads--this band is not nu metal.
Production is top notch. The musicianship is solid. I like all the songs. But why? Mostly because the double bass pounds and the guitar shreds. This CD kept my interest from beginning to end. It also made me want to get up and break shit throughout the entire listen. A release that evokes anger always pleases me.
I honestly have nothing but praise for this band and this demo. This band has had lineup problems and several name changes. This is the only thing I can reason for them not being signed to a major record label. Polterchrist is a mosh pit pleaser. Somebody needs to listen to this demo and sign this band quickly.
