    "Holy shit! This is a good fucking demo. I can't believe this is a self released CD. They must be signed. The CD looks professional. The CD sounds professional." That's what I thought when I popped in this CD from Des Moines, Iowa's Painface.

    The artwork is good. My one complaint is that all the lyrics are printed in really small type and are really blurry. Otherwise, the photos and layout are cool.

    Their Web site is really top notch. I wish I had more time to cruise around and look at everything. I did find out that, since recording the CD, Chad Valasek has been replaced with Danny Spain on drums. Congratulations to Danny.

    Anders used to sing for Slipknot and Jas used to play for Inbred. They put out this CD one year ago. The music is heavy and I can hear some similarities between Painface and Slipknot or maybe it's just something in the water in Des Moines that makes these bands so heavy. They make some Nu Metal noises on this record, but not enough to dismiss this as LimpKnot. They border on sounding like System of a Down and Tool sometimes. Overall, I like it.

    I'm still at a loss as to why Painface hasn't been signed to a label yet. They seem to have a good thing going on. These guys are "commercially viable" - cha ching!
