  • Slither's Review:
If anyone out there is considering purchasing a set of V-Drums, I have for you the perfect example of what not to do. Some of the higher end kits sound great, but then there are the cheaper ones that make Mortician's drums sound natural. The horrid drum sound found on this 3 song demo is only one of many problems, but it's the first to come screaming over the hill attempting to stab you in the ear.

The musicians are not necessarily bad but their taste in guitar tone differs a great deal from mine. The rhythm is muddy but bearable, but the lead is terribly limp and because of the mixing catastrophe going on here, it sounds more like a kazoo. The aforementioned "mix" is pretty much non-existent. The sticker on the CD-r points out that this demo was produced by Trey Chandler. I really hope Trey was a friend of the band who did this for free, because if he charged them, they got screwed.

The first two tracks are a veritable frequency cluster fuck. The rigid and poppy drums bounce around in a sea of phase while the guitars fight for dominance in what is best described as a bout of mud wrestling. The vocals come across clearly, but that just serves to highlight the sorry state of the other instruments. The third song distorts and threatens my speakers with death. A shitty mix on a demo is understandable, but this level of crapulence is way over the line.

The songs themselves are pretty boring, and a look at the band's website reveals they have an EP coming out in April on Camp Fury Records, but nothing seems to have come from this 3 song promo/demo. This is a good thing, if these guys have any sense they scrapped the songs on this miserable disc and started fresh for the new album.
