Requiem's Review:
Experimentation is undoubtedly a vital part of progression. However, it does not always yield positive results and therefore should be thought of as a learning experience, good or bad. Myles of Destruction sound like an experiment that just didn't work. By listening to this I have learned that Myles of Destruction have the ability to play their instruments, but do not have the ability to produce pleasant sounds with them. The experiment in question is a 3-piece band with bass, violin and drums. If we put together the three right people for the job, there could have been some monumental material here. Hell, My Dying Bride brought the violin into death metal and good things happened. Myles of Destruction brought it into their sound and horrible things happened. And it's not Audrey's fault solely. All parties in question are amateur musicians, an in turn we are graced with amateur music. The bass and violin crash violently with their inability to stay in key with each other and the drums do nothing to save the matter. The vocals, when audible, are nothing but sub par death grunts.
It's just too damn easy to put out a demo these days, and it's evident when you hear stuff like this. Even the cover has pixelated computer artwork that is nothing short of unprofessional. And maybe professional is not what they are going for. Experimental? Yes. Containing punk rock ethics? Yes. Enjoyable to noise fans? Most likely. Enjoyable to those who take pride in listening to music? Absolutely not, unless there are some serious screws loose.
