Redwolff's Review:
In lieu of the usual cover artwork (which is missing from Mower's otherwise exhaustive promo package) I wanted to include the note they taped to the front of the binder this CD was encased in, which was scrawled on the back of the July 4th Simpson's Trivia Calender page, which proves these guys are not only Simpsons fans but true patriots. If you can't discipher it, it reads: "This is 100 times better than the last one we sent in, so if you like it, awesome. If not, we can take the whipping. No cry-babies here!" Well, thank goodness for some real men in the business, I'm tired of whiny hatemail.Fortunately, I think I can save them even the temptation to cry. This is their second demo, which was done sometime in 2002, with a new guitarist since the last one. They have since gone on to yet another guitarist - they apparently keep losing their guitarists - and a debut CD which will actually be sold in major stores. My opinion is that they deserve it. This demo sounds almost professionally mixed. The promo kit shows that these guys give a shit about how they appear to the 'zines and sites they send their CD's out to. These guys use a dual-vocal method, which, for the most part, involves screaming over each other instead of the "one rapper and one singer" approach some other bands I could mention use. This is thankfully not rapcore, it is undisguised skater punk, one of the songs is even titled "Shut up and Skate," just in case you were confused. They even included the lyrics and they are pretty well thought-out; i.e., All those pieces could resemble life / if those pieces were reassembled right I'm imaging Xander Cage scratching a tattooed bicep, licking the end of his pencil and pondering, "Hmm, what rhymes with effigy?"
My only criticism is they could have skipped the song "Cause", 'cause it sucks. Other than that, this is solid, and I hope their new CD does well.
