Do you like noise metal? Bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ion Dissonance, Backstabbers Inc, Norma Jean, From A Second Story Window, etc? Well add another band to that list, Memoir has the potential to be just as chaotic and interesting as any of them. With two short songs (both under a minute and thirty seconds) Memoir has me interested, but the two songs practically end before I sit down to listen to them. Other than that these songs are fine examples of the noise/grind/metal hybrid genre.They are less chaotic than Dillinger, and definitely have more of a metal edge to them. The songwriting is slightly more straightforward with less time changes and the vocals aren't nearly as shrill. As is a problem for any band in this style it very difficult to describe what they do musically, the incredibly short songs magnify this problem. I find that I needed to listen to each song at least a dozen times each before I could really grasp everything that was going on. So all I can say is that I dig this band and if you like the style you need to listen to them for yourself.
