Musashi's Review:
Let's start with the cover. What's the deal with the fucking dolphin? I get the Native American logo, but I don't understand the dolphin. Dolphins, much like unicorns and ponies, don't really belong in metal; they belong on toasted rye with a little mayo. Seriously, this is a good looking demo package despite the weird cover. The packaging, photos and website are all very professional looking. The CD starts off very strong. I was thinking that the recording was very good, but then little chinks in the armor started to appear. The vocals were mixed too far up front and there are timing problems (drum fills should stay in tempo!) and dropouts. For a band that has been playing together for so many years (eight or nine), I expected that there would be fewer technical problems caught on tape. Let's look past these trivialities and focus on the music.
I hear some Alice In Chains mixed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Picture, if you will, a grunge band with some bad rapping mixed in for effect. When he doesn't try to rap or sing with British accent, Jason is a strong vocalist with good feel. However, the problem is not necessarily the vocals, it's the music in general. This CD is full of lite metal and nu metal cliches.
Move along, nothing to see here. Redwolff has come over to watch the Simpsons and wants me to tell everyone that this band sucks. I do not feel they suck, but would urge them to review some of the bands on this year's top ten lists and thicken up their sound.
