Slither's Review:
Roaring onto the field, Kinetic score major bonus points out of the gate with killer bass tone. It's rare that I find myself so satisfied with the recording of a self produced album. While a few frequencies could have been cleaned up a bit during mastering, the overall production is excellent. Kinetic seem to be one of the few bands who understand how important the audibility of all instruments is to the quality of an album. Four-stringer Savvas Betinis rasps out the vocals while simultaneously holding down the low end; the influence of his previous role in Acid Death is readily apparent as is the influence of Chuck Schuldiner. Both guitarists are right on point and my only complaint in the musician department is fairly minor: while his drumming is very precise, Mr. Alexakis has a hard time coming off the china cymbal every now and then, and its sheet metal sound gets a bit old. Obviously in the grand scheme, cymbal choice is really more of a personal taste issue than it is a true problem, but you get the idea.Kinetic's thrashy brand of death metal always keeps things interesting, galloping along through speedy passages and epic lead bridges, their songwriting and tone evoke the spirit of Human-era Death. Soul | Emotion | Flesh was released in 2003 and is being used as promotion for their full-length album due out this month (The Chains That Bind Us), this three song demo is a very enjoyable listen. It appears the band has signed to the Greek label Sleazy Rider, and if these finely tuned pieces of progressive death metal machinery are any indication of what the full album sounds like, then Kinetic is definitely a band to watch.
