    Killer Instinct embody what is often referred to as that "New York Attitude": frustration, aggravation and absolute contempt. They call their music "reality music, because Killer Instinct is bringing reality to music by speaking on issues that people can relate to, not corny gore lyrics, not ridiculous black metal antics about being dark and cruel, and not thoughtless words written by mindless authors." Lyrics such as: "Your morals are your weakness / Man-made laws repress that which is man" and "No heart and no conviction / You live your life by lie / A prisoner of fear / You can't look in my eye." I have to agree that the lyrics are tuff.

    Lyrics are only one piece of the puzzle. A demo has to have a lot more to make it good. Technically, KI have a lot going for them. They play very well. The music is fast and heavy. All the band members seem to possess excellent chops. Furthermore, KI have a great metal attitude. They have a big middle finger for everyone else and don't give a fuck.

    What KI lack, in my opinion, are good songs and a good producer. I think if you take these guys and put them in a good studio with a good producer and rewrite a couple of these songs and write a few new songs, these guys would be awesome. I am not saying that these guys should totally throw away their extreme, death-core metal sound. The sound and style that these guys have is great. I just think their music is unfocused. There are a lot of good ideas on this demo mixed in with a lot of noise.

    I feel good knowing that these guys are in Brooklyn and kicking ass. This band has the right instinct, but still doesnąt have the right demo. Support your local talent!
