    Californian Bay thrashers Kaos mosh through the scene with their new full-length, Kaos Among Us. In the band's words, Kaos incorporate a "brutal thrashing style mixed with pure Bay Area uniqueness." For the most part, this is accurate in describing this CD. Upon first listen this may sound like another dull hardcore album, but do not be fooled! Beneath the screaming psuedo-metalcore vocals, crisp production and clean-cut appearance lies some classic thrash! Riffs that are reminiscent of bands such as Anthrax, S.O.D. and D.R.I. are woven cleanly between more modern-sounding riffs. And while the latter description may seem unsettling to the metal elitist, I wouldn't worry so much, as it isn't as noticeable as it seems. Odds are you'll be pulling out more thrash than modern hardcore by the end of the album.

    All in all, Kaos is an energetic, thrashing experience that will appeal to the modern generation of metal as well as the older crowd. While not a mandatory listen, it will prove both refreshing and nostalgic.
