  • Martyr's Review:
Let's get the facts out of the way before I completely botch this demo review. Jaw is comprised of Kevin Kornelsen on drums, Jason Dokken (heheheheheh) on guitar/vox, Pablo Reidel on bass/vox and Emmanual Olarewaju on vocals, or as is stated on their album notes "manipulations." They are based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada).

I think it would be fitting if this band fell into the nu-metal category and got very lost. The first track of their self-titled demo starts out with a lackluster guitar line and some really bad screams. Actually these shitty screams are common practice throughout the CD, as well as some off-key Dave Matthews type vocals and some Jonathan Davis "I-hate-my-dad" vocals. As far as the structure of the songs go, the guitar work is very minimal in style, basically relying on tempo to get through the song. The drummer is actually decent and may be the only saving grace for Jaw. The bass lines aren't bad either. Whoever produced Jaw's record could have done a better mixing job, but I'm finding this to be a common problem in demo land. There wasn't much on this album that really impressed me and honestly, once I'm done this review I'll most likely never listen to this again.
