  • Sabbath's Review:
I am not sure where the hell River Forest is, however, it sounds like a dump. (Not to mention it is in Illinois.)

Note: I really admire these boys and their attempt at forming a band, etc. . . however, unacceptable statements on your information sheet that might show up in the hands of labels is really stupid, for instance: "We would love if you reviewed our CD" (you would love me if I reviewed your CD? Love forever?), and spelling errors like this: "Rythm," when you are describing your position in the band. Just a little helpful hint . . . if you plan on being taken seriously, please spend more "serious" time on preparing your demo and information . . . those things are important!

Anyway, the band itself has potential. Insurrection do appear to be amateurs - which is displayed in their music - however, they have talent that could possibly develop into something more solid. They take a stab at the Melodic Death Metal scene, but do not draw much blood. I wish these guys luck, and I also wonder if Insurrection have broken up because their website is kaput. The first track after the intro is very reminiscent of Black Metal, uh, so now I am confused . . . one minute a song sounds Therion-ish, and the next minute it sounds like Marduk. I think they have a bit more experimenting to do with different styles before they settle down with a title. Hopefully these guys will get signed, I wish them the best.

In conclusion, these boys are not bad at all, they just could use some work, and more focus/direction.
    3 out of 5
