    So what we have here is definitely not metal. In Heaven and You (IHAY) is some sort of goth, ambient, darkwave project. Combining a drum machine, some bass, and eerie electronic noises IHAY succeeds in creating one acid trip of an album. Now I am no authority one this type of music, but I can say that Eidolons succeeds where many metal bands fail. Instead of trying to be evil and dark, which far too many metal bands fail and just come off as stupid and unintentionally funny, Eidolons is just fucking disturbing. The lyrics, the plodding, melancholic drone, combined with the unique vocal style, works quite effectively. The lyrics focus on a disturbing, tragic romance and are poetic and macabre.

    My only complaint is that Eidolons is far too short. This is the kind of record you get lost in and if it were ninety minutes long, you wouldn't notice until the last track had finished. Hopefully Mr. Vallejo has some more ideas and we can see a proper full length IHAY release.
