    This week's demo comes straight from America's heartland, Kansas, and is sure to please even our most fickle readers. Human Ritual borrows from several genres and mixes them into a stainless steel blender for an intense and brutal molten sludge which can be used to bury those who oppose them. They make use of not one, but two bassists and two percussionists for a very thick wall of sound combined with a dueling axe attack that will whip your senses into submission. The drumming on the opener "Less Than Human" shows some real talent, especially with its pummeling double bass.

    These guys and girls, yes there are two women that are just as sick as their men, take elements of thrash, death and hardcore and intertwine them with precision. Brad Oliver's vocal range works well with this aural assault as he switches effortlessly between hardcore screams, death metal growls and haunting cleans. If I had his pipes, I'd surely be drinking a lot of water between songs to put out the flames! I am hard-pressed to pick a favorite track but wish I had more than only four to choose from.     Not only does the Offering kick serious ass, but their website is very cool and a must to surf. It has a real creepy horror score that makes you feel like you're deep in the catacombs of ancient Egypt. There are many hallways, so to speak, so go forth and explore. Just watch your back and keep your torch lit! As much as I don't want to give out 5 skulls, I love this CD too much not to and eagerly await their full length offering in the near future.
