When I get a good demo like this, it is hard for me to find stuff to say. Hectorite describe themselves as "hevier [sic], meaner and harder experimental-metal than ever were produced." This is a good description. These guys are tough. Hectorite remind me of Meshuggah and Fear Factory all rolled up in one. They have that heavy Swedish thing going on. They like to play in odd time signatures and fuck with your sense of equilibrium.The Hectorite website is awesome. I highly recommend you check it out. It doesn't offer a lot of information, but aesthetically it is great. I especially like the band member profiles/dossiers. Very cool.
Hectorite's music speaks for itself. The music is heavy: really heavy. The production of the demo is great and the musicianship is superb. They have to start bottling the water in Sweden and sending it over here. Swedish bands always seem to kick my ass.
Go to the website. Listen to the mp3s. Buy the CDs. These guys are worth it.
