Behemoth's Review:
Interesting to see a demo coming in from Philadelphia, after all that’s where the mighty one Behemoth honed his metal craft. More specifically, Chinatown, Trocadero Theatre, where over the past decade I witnessed and interviewed some of the greatest metal acts ever. So much for the digression, now simply watching the tumbleweeds blow through New England, plotting the next adventure. Enough of the diatribe, point being demo review time, here we have a four song demo which includes the following four tracks: "Severance," "Dawn," "Tomorrow is Just Another Day" and "Desolation."Not to start off on the wrong foot, but the production is, well, less than basement perfect, which is a bit of mystery in these technological times. If the band wants to get anywhere in the foreseeable future, this element should be addressed - like now. What we have here is simply a four track demo clocking in around a half hour, with metal overtones to it, segueing between and through slow to mid tempo arrangements. In their own words, "the members are dedicated to creative songwriting and strive to craft music without expectation beyond emotional truth." There is a slight doom edge or dark metal vibe within, but nothing pronounced or inspiring. The acoustic guitar work is a nice break between the faster tracks.
Screams of pain and mournful laments over this ever repetitive boring delivered pace... Sorry! Oh, too harsh man! Really, the band needs to strive towards defining their own sound and style, after a quick listen, there's really nothing distinctive to return to, that's not to say that additional creativity and talent won't reap rewards.
