  • Metal Militia's Review:
Well what do we have here? Another band from Italy? Damn, Metal Judgment must have a big following over there or something, because I think the last four or five demos I’ve reviewed have come the land of pasta and Ferrari. Gotha has released this 3 track demo and it actually ain’t all that bad. The first two tracks are decent thrashers and then the last track is just one big mess of stupidity, but I think I can let that go this time.

The first track, “Take Your Soul,” is easily the best, great old school thrash here. Think of the riffing of the better parts of Death Angel and combine that with the intensity of a band like Exodus, throw in some awesome thrash breaks and you’ve got the first track of this demo. Of course this track has some momentous down points: the soloing is terrible, it seems that the solo was just thrown in without regard to fluidity, and on top of that is just a boring, traditional solo. Another low point of this song, and the whole album actually, are the lyrics. Now, I’m going to assume that English isn’t these guys' first language, so I’ll cut them a little slack, but next time develop some more interesting lyrics, because I’m sure I’ve heard these lines in a thousand other metal songs. Of course what trumped any of these lame parts was the MONSTER thrash break at around the 2:45 part. If it makes me thrash my face off then it’s done right, and it doesn’t get much better than this.

The next track, “The Battle” is a bit of a letdown, it’s a slower piece, and while the riffs are okay, the song just drags on too long without a break. I keep waiting for that momentous break to come in when the band decides to stop with the slow shit and just play some fucking THRASH, but it never comes. Add to that the already bad lyrics and this just doesn’t cut it.

The last track just confuses me, an instrumental that sounds like it ends halfway before it was supposed to. It’s just bad, and I can’t really say more about that track than that. However there is some potential here. Thrash breaks and speed metal insanity are your friends here; don’t waste time with the slow shit.
