People always say "Musashi, it's so easy for you to sit around and just criticise bands." I must respond and say that it's not easy at all, except when I get demos like this one. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. C'mon, people!!! This demo is too damn easy to criticise. I think there is something wrong with the water in Canada. How is it that great bands like Rush can come from such a backwards country when there are so many slack jawed yokels sucking up the valuable oxygen?

I digress. I immediately reached for the package from Canada because I was short on time today and knew that there was going to be a polished turd that I could write about inside all that bubble wrap. These guys bill themselves as Stoner Rock and liken themselves to Black Sabbath. Rest assured that the THC in their bloodstreams is about the only similarity. Flatblak have a slight Guns & Roses feel to them that I think should be milked for all it's worth. They have that hard rock sound with angry lyrics. That is about the only good thing I can say.

Nothing upsets me more than a recording that features out of tune instruments and off-key caterwauling. Actually, the singer sounds a little like Danzig. Do I have to mention that the songs are boring? They are not terrible. They just lack the inspiration you would expect. The songs sound dated. The demo sounds like a tape you found in the attic of a your dad's garage band from 1974.

Flatblak also claim that Judgement Day is the "Feel-good hate album of the year." I'll be damned if I don't feel good for hating it. For Satan's sake, they have a country song on the CD! What were they thinking? Guys, drink bottled water and take deep breaths through your nose.
