Behemoth's Review:
After a brief sabbatical Portugal's black metal wonder Filii Nigrantium Infernalium are back on the scene with the release of this twenty-one minute project which features two song titles with Latin notations. The band has been around since the early nineties and currently exists as a four piece, with a former member doing time with Moonspell (great band).Stripped down underground sound with a slight nod to old school Bathory is the story line. However, this is not truly black metal, but more or less rock heavy featuring dark dreary passages of tortured dementia. Clearly, the members of Filii Nigrantium Infernalium have the experience, which allows them to compose and execute competent musical arrangements without falling into cliché entrapments.
This band has managed to create a unique black metal sound while displaying a degree of originality. The band fuses fairly complex rhythms and technical guitar work with scores of dark melodies. Their music displays innovation, but has a tendency to bore as they drone on with Latin diatribes. Principal song titles are "Queda" and "Era do Abutre."
Knowing the importance of the extreme black metal scene the band should continue to progress with their ideals and musical abilities. Good luck to them as they search for an elusive label to call home.
