  • Lugubrious's Review:
From deep within the bowels of New York comes Fecal Corpse. These four monsters grew up in the sewers, living off of anything and everything that was flushed right onto their dinner plates. Sometime during their youth someone flushed a few metal tapes, a guitar, and out of pots and pans they made drums. Naturally the only thing left to do was create a band. The only thing left was a name, and being in New York it was no surprise to find a few dead bodies deep within the sewers. From this they got the name Fecal Corpse, a sad and vile reflection of their surroundings.

As the music begins, I am reminded of Kataklysm's "The Awakener." Within seconds the eerie intro becomes a bombshell of noise, intense drumming, and high to low vocals. The only thing more putrid than the smell is the noise these guys create. Ed the Dead has great control of his voice box, with growls sounding like they came echoing from deep within your toilet, to violent screams of torment and pure disgust. The bassist holds his own like a brick wall, but this is only to be expected from the looks of this guy. The drummer at the age of sixteen has shown great potential, and it will be exciting to see how this kid develops. My only complaint is the guitarist, who is good but seems to lack in substance. Rumor has it he wandered into the sewers a year ago and never made his way out, and that is how he came to join the band. He is not a bad guitar player at all, but I continue waiting for that riff that makes my head explode and it never comes. A few moments here and there throw me into headbanging madness, but it never seems to last. In short, more guitars would make this a band that can not be stopped, so if any of you sewer rats are interested you need to reach them.

With no actual album released yet, and just a few songs circulating online, these poop goblins have already gotten quite the following. Through word of mouth alone and a handful of shows hordes of metal fans have followed their noses to the stench to find all their Grind/Death pleasures being satisfied. With members of Mortician supporting them, not much seems to be in their way. Arm yourself with the toilet paper, your rectum has been warned.
