  • Blind's Review:
Damn. The production is butt. Excuse me for that, but it’s the first thing I thought of when I put this disc in. It sounds like the band recorded the music into a seashell. Most of the time, you can barely hear the drums and bass.

Anyway, Fearingmind is from Pennsylvania, I believe, and I think that the members above are the ones in the band despite “Ronnie” being listed in the CD sleeve. The big problem I have right now is the band’s web site. It’s terrible. I understand that they’re planning on updating it, but it doesn’t seem to have even basic info such as band members/bios, addresses of shows, a way to order their CDs, etc. Very weak, and Fearingmind is selling itself short by not having something more professional.

Concerning the music (after all, that’s the point of this review, isn’t it?): it’s pretty good. It reminds me a lot of Sacred Reich. It certainly has 80’s thrash overtones with maybe a wee bit of glam. The vocalist reminds me a little of Phil Anselmo on Cowboys from Hell—some screeching, some growling, but mostly mid-range screaming. The guy is pretty intense; I’ll give him that.

I don’t think this review is fair, to be honest with you. The music sounds good—maybe a four or five skull job. Nonetheless, it’s marred by piss poor production. It fails to showcase what I believe is a talented drummer, for one thing, as well as some smoking solos and competent songwriting. These guys really need to spend the money for some studio time elsewhere. Live, this band would probably rock a bulldog’s ass.

    Two word review: unnecessarily disappointing.
